American Society for Bone and Mineral Research
(Washington, DC) – Bart Clarke, M.D., has taken office as the new President of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), the world’s leading scientific organization for bone health research.
“As a clinician researcher, I have focused my career on researching and caring for patients with hypoparathyroidism, osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. My involvement in the ASBMR has helped me connect with other clinicians to discuss treatment and collaborate with other researchers and leaders in the field,” said Dr. Clarke. “I am honored to be the ASBMR President for the coming year and look forward to collaborating with my fellow Councilors to continue to move the Society forward.”
Dr. Clarke is a clinician and researcher with the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, Diabetes, and Nutrition at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN. Dr. Clarke’s research program focuses on clinical studies of steroid-induced osteoporosis, transplant-related osteoporosis, age-related osteoporosis, primary hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism and metabolic bone disease. He has developed collaborative clinical research protocols covering these areas that have advanced the understanding of postmenopausal osteoporosis and other forms of osteoporosis, and given new insights into treatment options for bone and calcium disorders.
In addition to serving on the ASBMR Council as President-Elect this past year, Dr. Clarke has served on the ASBMR Annual Meeting Program Committee and served as an ASBMR Councilor. Dr. Clarke will serve as President of the ASBMR until September 2019.
