    Session Overview

    The 2016 Grant Writing Session is sponsored by the ASBMR Membership and Education Committee and will take place on Friday, September 16 from 10:30am to 12:00pm. There will be 22 tables divided amongst the following table topics:

    New NIH requirements

    International: Australia
    International: Europe (Consortia)
    International: Europe (ERC, starting consolidator, advanced grants)
    International: Europe (ITN, training networks)
    International: UK
    International: Canada
    International: Japan
    International: Korea
    International: China
    International: Hong Kong
    International: Central America
    International: South America

    Choosing Appropriate Grant and/or Funding Agency: NIH R Awards
    Choosing Appropriate Grant and/or Funding Agency: VA, DOD, NSF
    Choosing Appropriate Grant and/or Funding Agency: Career Development Awards
    Choosing Appropriate Grant and/or Funding Agency: NASA, CASIS

    Timeline

    As a small group discussion leader at this year's session, you will be asked to prepare a 10-minute presentation with your co-leader. The format of the session is as follows: 

    10 minute introduction – Membership Engagement and Education Committee Co-Chairs
    10 minutes for table topic leader “presentations”
    30 minutes for Q&A and discussion amongst table topic participants
    HALFWAY MARK – opportunity for participants to switch tables
    10 minutes for table topic leader “presentations”
    30 minutes for Q&A and discussion amongst table topic participants

    Note that, during the second half of the session, it is up to the discretion of the presenters how much time they give to their overview. If there are no new participants at your table, you do not have to begin at the beginning. If there are only a few new participants, you may be more brief in the overview if you feel that's best. Please do not exceed 10 minutes for your overview presentation.
