ASBMR Bridge Funding Research Grants Program (2008-2009)
In 2008-2009 the ASBMR will offer funding opportunities for established investigators who have encountered an interruption in funding, in order to maintain ongoing research efforts. These grants are intended for investigators with a history of research productivity and external research funding.
Deadline for Receipt of Application: Application deadlines are May 31, 2008, September 30, 2008 and January 31, 2009.
Awards will be announced approximately eight weeks after each application deadline (all requirements detailed in the application must be met before funds are distributed). Applications should be submitted to http://asbmrgrants.editorialmanager.com.

Purpose of Awards:
The ASBMR Bridge Funding Research Grants provide one year of support to established investigators (defined, for the purpose of this award, as investigators who have previously had at least five years of independent funding) and who have encountered an interruption in funding, in order to maintain ongoing research efforts. These grants are intended for investigators with a history of research productivity and external research funding. This bridge grant is only for grant renewals. New grants, pilot studies and/or grants that are not ongoing will not be eligible for this award.

The number of awards granted will depend on the quality of applications and status of available funds.

Eligibility:
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be a full-time faculty member or equivalent
- Have been an ASBMR member for five years prior to submission and retain membership during the period of the ASBMR award
- Have a minimum of five years of successful funding and significant publications in the field of bone and mineral research
- Have failed to obtain funding on a peer-reviewed proposal for grant renewal submitted to a federal agency or other major sponsor (This bridge grant is only for grant renewals. New grants, pilot studies and/or grants that are not ongoing will not be eligible for this award.)
