ASBMR Career Enhancement Awards

In light of current economic conditions, ASBMR will not be soliciting applications for the Career Enhancement Awards and Bridge Funding Research Grants this spring. This matter will be reassessed by the ASBMR Council in June related to the acceptance of applications in the fall and an update will be posted on the ASBMR website. For additional information, please contact the ASBMR Business Office at asbmr@asbmr.org or (202) 367-1161.

About the CEA Award Program

The ASBMR Career Enhancement Awards (CEA) were created to encourage the professional development of basic, clinical and translational scientists in the bone and mineral field. These awards are intended to foster the academic potential and careers of clinical, basic and translational scientists in the bone and mineral field. The awards are designed to facilitate acquisition of skills and knowledge not otherwise available to the applicant but useful for the specific project outlined in the application.

Types of Awards
Collaborative Research Support Award
The overall goals of this program are to strengthen and expand the basic, clinical and/or translational research expertise of the awardee, enhance the applicant’s career development and foster sustained collaborative research endeavors.

Sabbatical Research Support Award
This program is designed to strengthen the basic, clinical and/or translational research expertise of the awardee. This award differs from the Collaborative Research Support Award by requiring the awardee to document how the award will provide diminished teaching and administrative responsibility during the award.

General Research Support Award
This program provides funding for obtaining preliminary data that would allow the young investigator to define research objectives that would enable him or her to receive funding from a major funding source. This award type differs from the Collaborative and the Sabbatical awards in that the recipient does not need to collaborate with another institution or take a sabbatical from their home institution. The recipient must demonstrate how the initial research will generate future funding. The recipient must also demonstrate how this award will further his or her career in the bone and mineral field.
