ASBMR 29th Annual Meeting

For the convenience of those individuals that would like to attend ASBMR’s 29th Annual Meeting, September 16-19, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and wish to attend services for Shabbat, Rosh Hashanah and/or Yom Kippur (if you are extending your trip), ASBMR has compiled the following list of resources that have expressed an interest in assisting ASBMR Annual Meeting attendees with their needs.
Upon request, ASBMR is happy to assist you with finding a place of worship for any faith in Honolulu. Email asbmr@asbmr.org if you require assistance.
Worship Options
Chabad of Hawaii

This is an Orthodox shul that welcomes the participation of ASBMR attendees regardless of their background, affiliation or level of observance. There are no fees or tickets needed to attend any of their Shabbat or High Holiday services. However, they do offer a Friday night community dinner, which requires a reservation, if you’re interested. The High Holiday service schedule is not yet available, but please contact them at chabadhawaii@aol.com or by phone at +1 (808) 735-8161, if you have any questions.
Temple Sof Ma’arav

Sof Ma’arav is a Conservative congregation located within a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the Hawaii Convention Center. They allow guests to attend services for free if they are a member of a synagogue from home (of course, donations are welcome). You do not need to bring “proof” of membership; the honor system applies! If you are not a member of a congregation, a $50 ticket is requested for purchase.
- Erev Rosh Hashanah (Evening Services) will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007
- Rosh Hashanah Morning Services will begin at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.on Thursday, September 13, 2007, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007
- Kol Nidre (Yom Kippur Eve) Services will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2007
- Yom Kippur Morning Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and afternoon services 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2007.

Temple Emanuel-El is a Reform congregation located within a 20-30 minute taxi ride from the Hawaii Convention Center. All guests are welcome. A letter is requested from the attendee’s current Synagogue that states the attendee is in good standing with their congregation.
