Young Investigator Testimonial: My Experience at the ASBMR Annual Meeting
“It’s almost that time to fly to the ASBMR Annual Meeting in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. I attended my first Annual Meeting in 2002 in San Antonio and I found the meeting to be an overall great experience, it felt like a big family get-together. I especially liked that it was easy to get to know new people. At the meeting, it was not only the research fellows and the young/new investigators who would mingle and discuss science, I found that senior scientists were readily accessible and I could easily approach them with questions and ideas without hesitation.

As a young investigator, I am thrilled that an important focus of the Society is to create networking opportunities for its junior members at the Annual Meeting, for example the New Investigator Breakfast and the Young Investigator Lounge. These efforts demonstrate the ASBMR’s commitment to both recruiting new, young investigators and increasing their involvement in the Society. I am also proud to be a part of the ASBMR Young Investigator Subcommittee which allows me to personally assist in furthering the Society’s mission of helping young investigators feel welcome and develop a loyalty to the Society. I look forward to this year’s meeting and to my future involvement in the Society.” – Ulrike Moedder, Ph.D., Mayo Clinic and Foundation
