Meeting Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to delineate specific stem cell determinants of osteoblastogenesis and the bone marrow interactions that underlie marrow adipogenesis during states of malnutrition, glucose intolerance and aging; understand the role of the central nervous system in the homeostatic regulation of bone turnover and in pathologic conditions; clarify how changes in body composition and metabolic syndrome affect bone remodeling and fracture risk; and define the importance of marrow adiposity in the pathogenesis of primary and secondary causes of osteoporosis.
