The ASBMR Paula Stern Achievement Award annually recognizes a woman in the bone field who has made significant scientific achievements and who has promoted the professional development/advancement of women in the field. The 2015 Paula Stern Achievement Award will be presented to Teresita Bellido, Ph.D., at the ASBMR 2015 Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington, USA, on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
Teresita Bellido, Ph.D., graduated from the Universidad Nacional del Sur, Argentina, and received postdoctoral training at Indiana University School of Medicine and the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Indianapolis, USA. She was a faculty member of the Center of Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, USA (1994-2008). Dr. Bellido is currently a Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, at Indiana University School of Medicine; and a scientific investigator at the Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. Her research on bone biology and pathophysiology receives funding from the NIH, the VA, the U.S. Department of Defense, and other sources since 1996. She has mentored many students, postdoctoral fellows, junior faculty and short-term international scholars.
