    New Organization Launched to Advocate for Increased NIH Funding

    The community advocating on behalf of funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) grew larger on September 24 with the launch of ACT for NIH: Advancing Cures Today, a nonpartisan effort committed to advancing biomedical research. Led by Patrick White, who previously served in senior legislative affairs positions at NIH and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), ACT for NIH was formed to complement other, ongoing advocacy efforts and aims “to secure an immediate and significant funding increase for NIH, followed by steady, predictable budget growth in the future to enhance lifesaving medical research for patients around the world.” Read more
