May is National Osteoporosis Awareness Month – Partner with ASBMR
Date: May 05, 2016
This month, partner with ASBMR as we recognize National Osteoporosis Awareness Month. An estimated 52 million Americans are at risk for broken bones and low bone mass due to osteoporosis so let’s take this month to increase awareness and help close the treatment gap.
As an ASBMR member, you have the opportunity to leverage your status within the field to promote awareness, education, research, and advocacy of this debilitating, yet preventable, disease. We encourage you to participate in this important campaign by following ASBMR on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Spread awareness through your social media platforms, using the #WhyIStudyBone and #NationalOsteoporosisMonth hashtags, and sharing what drew you to the bone field, why you’ve dedicated your professional life to researching bone-related issues, osteoporosis-related facts and bone-health tips. In addition to sharing ASBMR posts, below are a few samples of the types of posts you can share:
• So that broken bones don’t lead to broken lives. #WhyIStudyBone #NationalOsteoporosisMonth
• Bone research is the foundation of bone health – Help support @ASBMR. #WhyIStudyBone #NationalOsteoporosisMonth
• Annually, osteoporosis causes 8.9 million+ fractures worldwide, equal to an osteoporotic fracture every 3 seconds #NationalOsteoporosisMonth
• [post a photo of your team or you in the lab, with the following message] Making advancements in osteoporosis research, every day! #NationalOsteoporosisMonth #WhyIStudyBone
Together, we have the power to initiate an important dialogue amongst the general public about the importance of building and maintaining bone health. Please join us in our efforts to raise awareness and spread the word.
