Congratulations to Dennis Black, 2017 Recipient of the Frederic C. Bartter Award!

Dennis Black is a Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UCSF. His work (over 300 publications) has focused on issues related to fracture risk prediction and randomized trials of osteoporosis medications. In SOF and MrOS, he has studied risk factors focusing on multivariate and long-term fracture risk prediction. He has led and been primary author on the pivotal RCTs for short-term and long-term efficacy of alendronate (FIT/FLEX) and Zoledronic acid (HORIZON-PFT/E1) and led the PaTH trial of combination anabolic/antiresorptive therapy. He is currently leading a large, collaborative project with FNIH aiming to establish a fracture surrogate for future trials and 2 large epidemiologic studies of AFF.
