Grant Mechanisms Available to Purchase High-Priced Scientific Equipment

    Date: April 07, 2016

Many types of scientific equipment are beyond the purchasing power of a typical research grant. Federal research agencies offer numerous mechanisms for purchasing, maintaining and/or increasing investigator access to expensive instrumentation, mostly through multi-user configurations that extend the value of research funding. The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) has developed a summary of the available grant mechanisms and programs researchers can use to gain access to cutting-edge equipment, found in their newly published document, “Instrumentation: Federal Grants and Programs for the Life Sciences.”
