Congratulations to Katharina Oliveira, D.D.S., 2016 ASBMR Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award Recipient

The Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award is for a female young investigator who resides outside the United States, with preference given to an investigator residing in an emerging country. The award provides the resources needed for the selected individual to attend the ASBMR Annual Meeting, mentorship from senior women in related areas of research, and membership in ASBMR.
ASBMR would like to congratulate this year’s awardee, Katharina Oliveira, D.D.S. Dr. Oliveira is a Ph.D. student at the Pediatric Dentistry at the School of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (FORP-USP), Brazil. She obtained her D.D.S. degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil (UFPE) in 2010. Later, she completed a Master of Sciences (MS) degree in Pediatric Dentistry (FORP-USP). She did 2 years of additional training in dental attendance for individuals with special health care needs (USP). Her research interests revolve around dentistry and the study of bone loss diseases that interact with the host immune response, including dental periapical lesions and periodontitis.
