In Memoriam: Sherry Sherman, Ph.D.

ASBMR is sad to announce the passing of ASBMR member Sherry Sherman, Ph.D. Dr. Sherman graduated from the University of Rochester in 1970, and earned a PhD from the University of Maryland in 1987. She spent most of her professional career at the National Institute on Aging, from which she retired in 2012. She focused on women’s health issues and spearheaded the longest-running study on menopause ever done, the Study of Women’s Health Across the Nation (SWAN).
Dr. Sherman was instrumental in planning the ASBMR 2012 Topical Meeting Forum on Aging and Skeletal Health; she served on the organizing committee and as a session chair.
