Congratulations to the 2014 Frederic C. Bartter Awardee, Richard Eastell, M.D., FRCP

The Frederic C. Bartter Award is given to an ASBMR member in recognition of outstanding clinical investigation in disorders of bone and mineral metabolism. Congratulations to this year’s award recipient, Richard Eastell, M.D., FRCP. Dr. Eastell is Professor of Bone Metabolism and Director of the Mellanby Centre for Bone Research at the University of Sheffield. He trained in endocrinology in Edinburgh, Northwick Park and at the Mayo Clinic. He leads a research group on the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis; of particular note is his contribution to the use of bone turnover markers. His wide-ranging contributions are recorded in more than 380 publications that have had an impact not only in understanding pathophysiology, but also on the practical clinical management of bone disease.
