Congratulations to Robert A. Adler, M.D., 2016 ASBMR Shirley Hohl Service Award

The Shirley Hohl Service Award is given to an individual whose activities best represent the dedicated and unselfish devotion in service to the Society and its mission and goals as exemplified by Shirley Hohl, the ASBMR's founding Executive Secretary. This award is given to an individual who is recognized by members of the Society as having made significant contributions to the mission of the ASBMR. The 2016 ASBMR Shirley Hohl Service Award will be presented to Robert A. Adler, M.D. at the ASBMR 2016 Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Dr. Robert A. Adler is Chief of Endocrinology at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Professor of Internal Medicine and of Epidemiology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. His research interests include osteoporosis screening in men, osteoporosis in men on androgen deprivation therapy, and osteoporosis in spinal cord injury. Dr. Adler was the ASBMR representative to the Endocrine Society Male Osteoporosis Guideline Committee. After service as Professional Practice Committee Chair, he served on Council and Task Forces, including Co-Chair of the Task Force on Long-Term Bisphosphonate Treatment for Osteoporosis. He is the ASBMR Co-Chair of the National Bone Health Alliance.
