Support Needed for Bone Health Promotion and Research Act
Date: May 18, 2011
The Bone Health Promotion and Research Act (S.966) was introduced in the Senate by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) on Thursday, May 12, an accomplishment which represents the culmination of more than two years of effort on the part of the National Coalition for Osteoporosis and Related Bone Diseases to get a Senate sponsor for the bill. The next step is to obtain as many Senate co-sponsors as possible.
Representatives Shelly Berkeley (D-Nevada) and Michael Burgess (R-Texas) are expected to reintroduce the bill in the House of Representatives in the near future, where they will again seek House co-sponsors.
If you are located in the United States, there are two ways you can help support these efforts:
- Send a short letter of thanks to Senator Gillibrand in the next week. Your letter can be a short and simple paragraph. Click here to download a sample.
- Let us know if you have close ties with other Senators and would be willing to contact them to sign on as a co-sponsor. You may send this information to our main office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Information about the bill can be found on this short summary and section by section summary.
Thank you for lending your support!
