Congratulations to Ellen M. Gravallese, M.D., 2017 Recipient of the ASBMR Stephen M. Krane Esteemed Award!

The Stephen M. Krane Award is given in recognition of outstanding achievements in basic, translational or clinical research in inflammation and/or skeletal matrix biology. Dr. Gravallese’s basic science laboratory is dedicated to the study of the pathogenesis of inflammatory arthritis, with a particular interest in the fundamental mechanisms of joint destruction. Research in her laboratory has identified key molecular and cellular pathways in rheumatoid arthritis and has contributed to the development of new therapeutic agents for treatment. Ellen M. Gravallese M.D. is the Myles J. McDonough Chair in Rheumatology and Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She serves as Chief of Rheumatology and Director of Translational Research for the Musculoskeletal Center of Excellence. She will serve as President of the American College of Rheumatology in 2019/20 and is currently an Associate Editor for New England Journal of Medicine.
