ASBMR Leaders Visit Capitol Hill to Promote NIH Funding
Date: February 05, 2013
Last week, ASBMR Councilors, Committee Chairs and members of the Advocacy and Science Policy Committee visited Washington DC to urge their Senators and Representatives to protect research funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and avoid the upcoming sequester that would cut an estimated 6.4 percent from the NIH budget.
Sustained growth for NIH will build on the nation’s longstanding, bipartisan commitment to better health, which has established the United States as the world leader in medical research and innovation. National leaders should not shelve or delay vital medical research progress or dismantle one of America’s innovation engines at a crucial time for research and the economy. ASBMR urges all its U.S.-based members to contact their representatives today and ask them to protect research funding at the NIH. It only takes a few minutes with ASBMR’s online Action Alert.
