Congratulations to the 2014 Lawrence G. Raisz Awardee, Stuart Ralston, MBChB, M.D.

The Lawrence G. Raisz Award is given to an individual having a record of outstanding achievements in preclinical translational research (cellular or in animals) in the bone and mineral field. Congratulations to this year’s award recipient, Stuart Ralston, MBChB, M.D.
Dr. Ralston graduated from Glasgow University and undertook higher medical training in rheumatology and internal medicine. He holds the Arthritis Research UK Chair of Rheumatology at the University of Edinburgh and is clinical director of the rheumatology service in Edinburgh. Professor Ralston has conducted clinical and translational research on cancer-associated bone disease; the regulatory role of nitric oxide and the endocannabinoid system in bone; and the genetic basis of osteoporosis and Paget’s disease. He is joint editor-in-chief of Calcified Tissue International and chairs the Commission for Human Medicines for the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority in the UK.
