ASBMR Member Dr. Margaret W. Neuman passed away on March 5, 2015 at the age of 97. Dr. Neuman received her PhD in Pharmacology in 1943 from the University of Rochester. As part of the Manhattan Project, Dr. Neuman worked alongside her husband, Dr. William F. Neuman, at the University of Rochester studying the toxicity of uranium, which led them into decades of prolific research on topics of bone biochemistry. Dr. Neuman published more than thirty manuscripts on the regulation of bone minerals as well as biochemical studies addressing the possible origins of life.

Additionally, Dr. Neuman co-authored the book, "The Chemical Dynamics of Bone Mineral," in 1958, which when reviewed at the time of publication was considered a “highly courageous and original contribution” on the chemistry of bone that served to ”rescue” the field from the “mass of conflicting details” that had been published to date. Dr. Neuman’s career in science lasted for more than four decades. Please share a kind note or fond memory of Dr. Neuman on the ASBMR community page
