Congratulations to the 2015 ASBMR Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Awardee, Marlene Chakhtoura, M.D.

The Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award is for a female young investigator who resides outside the United States, with preference given to an investigator residing in an emerging country. The award provides the resources needed for the selected individual to attend the ASBMR Annual Meeting, mentorship from senior women in related areas of research, and membership in ASBMR.
ASBMR would like to congratulate this year’s awardee, Marlene Chakhtoura, M.D. of the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Chakhtoura is a senior Research Fellow at the Calcium Metabolism and Osteoporosis Program at the American University of Beirut – Medical Center (AUB-MC), Lebanon, and co-teacher in the Scholars in Health Research Program (SHARP). She obtained her medical degree from the Lebanese University in 2008. She subsequently joined the American University of Beirut– Medical Center (AUB-MC) to complete 3 years of training in Internal Medicine. She then completed 2 years of training in Endocrinology and Metabolism. She was enrolled in the SHARP summer certificate in 2013 and is currently completing the second year requirements to receive the SHARP master of sciences degree in health research. Dr. Chakhtoura's research interests revolve around Vitamin D and metabolic bone disorders.
