ASBMR Members Advocate to Raise Awareness/Funding of Bone Research

This summer, ASBMR members and staff visited Capitol Hill and NIH to raise awareness of the importance of bone research.
ASBMR Past-President Clifford Rosen, M.D. and ASBMR Executive Director Ann L. Elderkin, P.A. met with Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) in July to encourage co-sponsorship of the Bone Health Promotion and Research Act, Senate 966.
Members of the Bone Coalition participated in the NIAMS (National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Skin Diseases) 25th Anniversary Symposium and met with NIAMS staff, including Director Stephen Katz, M.D. in June.
Members of the Bone Coalition visited leaders at NIDDK (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases), including Deputy Director Gregory Germino, M.D. and Saul Malozowski, M.D., Ph.D., MBA (pictured). At the meeting, the two groups discussed ways they could work even more closely to further promote bone health and raise awareness.
