Theresa Guise Receives 2012 Paula Stern Achievement Award

Theresa Guise, M.D. is the recipient of the 2012 ASBMR Paula Stern Achievement Award, which recognizes a woman in the bone field who has made significant scientific achievements and who has promoted the professional development and advancement of women in the field.
Dr. Guise is currently Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology and Jerry W. and Peg S. Throgmartin Professor of Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Indiana University. She also serves as Vice President and President-elect of the International Bone and Mineral Society, Scholar of the Susan Komen Scientific Advisory Council and Chair of the Board of the Paget Foundation and Bone and Cancer Foundation.
Her research interests include the effect of cancer and cancer treatment on the musculoskeletal system and she has received funding from the NIH, Department of Defense, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Prostate Cancer Foundation, V-Foundation, Mary K. Ash Foundation and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
Dr. Guise, along with other Esteemed Award winners, will participate in the Leadership Forum: Conversations with Esteemed Award Winners that will take place at the ASBMR 2012 Annual Meeting and will provide insight into the careers and lessons learned of the awardees.
