On March 3, ASBMR Past President Roberto Civitelli and Advocacy Committee member Babatunde Oyajobi joined representatives from other member societies of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) to thank members of Congress for the increase in funding this year, and ask for additional funding to support valuable research in 2017 and beyond. The night prior, FASEB awarded Congressman Tom Cole and Senator Roy Blunt the FASEB Public Service Award, where Congressman Cole emphasized the priority “to make sure that the $2 billion increase in 2016 is not a one-hit wonder.” Science News covered the event.
