Since each research award supports up to seven research positions, several thousand personnel could lose their jobs.”
Professor Laura Niedernhofer at the Scripps Research Institute in Florida and NIH Director Francis Collins were both featured on CBS Evening News illustrating the direct blow the cuts will have on their research that could result in billions of future savings for the U.S. government.Dr. Niedernhofer described the impact of the cuts on her research to find a drug to diminish the impact of old age, simultaneously dampening osteoporosis, dementia and muscle wasting.
