    FASEB Workshop for Postdocs Transitioning to Independent Postions – Apply by Nov. 30th

    The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) has planned a 2012 Workshop for Post-doctorates Transitioning to Independent Positions, on behalf of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). The seminar will take place on March 12-13, 2012, at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD, USA. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Francis Collins, Director of NIH.

    Primarily intended for postdocs, the workshop will focus on topics to prepare young investigators with diverse backgrounds with their transition into independent careers. A prominent group of researchers, scientific administrators, and career development experts will meet with 150 postdocs (including a small number of senior graduate students) to discuss effective career cultivation in the science field. Some topics to be included are job application process, funding resources, grant writing, among others. Travel awards (up to $1,250) will be available to attendees residing outside of a 50 mile radius and not directly receiving federal funding.
