The Fuller Albright Award is given in recognition of meritorious scientific accomplishment in the bone and mineral field to a member who has not yet reached his or her 45th birthday. The 2015 Fuller Albright Award will be presented to Fernando Rivadeneira, M.D., Ph.D., at the ASBMR 2015 Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington, USA on Saturday, October 10, 2015.
Fernando Rivadeneira, M.D., Ph.D. is a genetic epidemiologist who obtained his M.D. degree at Javeriana University (Colombia) and Ph.D. at Erasmus University (The Netherlands). He is currently Associate Professor at the Departments of Internal Medicine and Epidemiology of the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. His work as principal investigator develops within two Dutch population-based cohorts: the Generation R (pediatric) and Rotterdam Study (adults); also in the setting of large international cooperative consortia. Within the Genetic Factors of Osteoporosis (GEFOS) consortium he has played pivotal steering roles during the last decade, resulting in the largest leaps in discoveries in the field of Musculoskeletal Genomics.
