The ASBMR Leadership Education for Advancement (LEAD) program is a new pilot program being launched in 2023 to fill a gap in leadership education for junior and mid-career faculty in bone, mineral, and musculoskeletal science. While scientists and clinicians receive a high level of education and instruction in their career specialties, less advanced training is available for junior and mid-career faculty on building and managing effective teams and other crucial leadership skills.
The ASBMR LEAD pilot program will provide opportunities for ASBMR members to access customized leadership development training over the course of nine months, culminating in a networking reception at the annual ASBMR meeting. The training program will be led by professional business educators and supported by peer networking groups and discussions, for a total of two meetings and approximately two hours per month.. Overall, the ASBMR LEAD Program will provide essential training in leadership and team management to facilitate career advancement for junior and mid-career faculty and foster the growth and development of these members of the ASBMR community.
Registration fee: The program will be offered free of charge to ASBMR members in good standing.
Program eligibility: The LEAD program content is targeted to early and mid-career ASBMR members. ASBMR members who are in an independent faculty position, or soon will be (i.e., postdocs with >2 years of experience) will be given priority for acceptance into the program, but ASBMR members at all career stages are welcome and encouraged to apply.
