OHSU Report: Researchers Develop Material That Replicates Human Bone Tissue

    Date: August 08, 2019

Researchers out of Oregon Health and Science University have engineered material that replicates human bone tissue “with an unprecedented level of precision, from its microscopic crystal structure to its biological activity”, according to a report released August 6. The report states, “Like real bone, the material developed at OHSU has a 3D mineral structure populated with living cells, providing a unique model to study bone function, diseases, regeneration.”  The researchers plan to use the material to explore the disease processes in bone, such as Leukemia and to use as treatment for large bone injuries.
