Dr. Bellido's President Report - July 2, 2020
Date: July 02, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
As I announced last month, this year’s ASBMR Annual Meeting will be a completely virtual event, taking place September 11-15. Furthermore, the 2020 Annual Meeting will be free for all ASBMR members!
The Program Committee and staff have been hard at work putting this year’s program together and we will be sharing specifics about the program over the next few weeks. In the meantime, I encourage you to view the preliminary program on the ASBMR website.
Annual Meeting abstract notifications will be sent later this month and we are aiming to open registration in mid-July. Remember, registration is free for members but all members will need to register for the meeting.
I would also like to reiterate the Society’s commitment to placing a deliberate focus on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We have started the process of developing a diversity and inclusion statement of principles that will guide future policies and procedures, and exploring how we can incorporate DEI goals into all facets of our 2019-2022 Strategic Plan. ASBMR is also committed to diverse representation within all ASBMR volunteer opportunities and award programs, as well as providing opportunities to engage and educate our members on DEI topics.
As ASBMR members, I urge you to be aware of your own prejudices and educate yourself about the toxic and pervasive racism in our culture, our institutions, and our economy. Click here for a list of suggested anti-racism resources compiled for and by ASBMR members.
Thank you to our loyal members from all over the world for submitting their science to the meeting and maintaining full engagement with ASBMR activities during these difficult times!
Sincerely,
Teresita Bellido
ASBMR President
