  • Message from ASBMR President Peter Ebeling, AO,
    FRACP, MBBS, MD – September 1, 2022

    Dear Colleagues:

I am very much looking forward to seeing many of you next week in-person in Austin, Texas, USA for the ASBMR 2022 Annual Meeting. I know it is going to be a great meeting with over 1,100 abstracts being presented in a scientifically charged program! However, I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight a few important items for your consideration as you, like me, start to pack your bags for Austin!

    Health and Safety Protocols
Coming together safely in Austin is a top priority for the Society. All participants must be fully vaccinated to attend the Annual Meeting and masks are strongly encouraged but not required. Attendees will need to confirm their full vaccination status onsite prior to collecting their registration badge. Both print and digital versions of vaccination certificates are acceptable. We encourage US-based attendees to utilize the CLEAR app to confirm their full vaccination status and save time at check-in. International attendees will need to provide official documentation from their own countries rather than using the CLEAR app. Full details are available on the ASBMR website.

    Professional Development and Networking Opportunities
ASBMR Committees are providing several professional development sessions in Austin. The Women in Bone and Mineral Research Committee session on “Beating Burnout - Tips and Tools for You and Your Team” occurs on Friday, September 9. The Early-Stage Investigator Subcommittee session on “Building and Managing an Effective Research Team” will be held on Saturday, September 10 and the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee session “Bone by Its Diversity” occurs on Sunday, September 11. Additionally, we are providing networking opportunities at the end of each day for attendees to come together socially. Please review the Annual Meeting program for complete details.

Online Itinerary Builder and Mobile App
Before arriving in Austin, view the meeting abstracts and create your personalized Annual Meeting schedule utilizing the online itinerary builder.

While onsite, enhance your Annual Meeting experience by downloading our mobile app, now available in both the Apple and Google Play app stores (search “ASBMR 2022”). I previously mentioned the numerous improvements to this year’s mobile app in my August letter.

    Social Media
We encourage all attendees to share their Annual Meeting experience on social media utilizing the hashtag #ASBMR2022.

I cannot wait to see you all in Austin next week!

Safe travels and let’s join together again for a great ASBMR Meeting.

    Sincerely,
    Peter R Ebeling
    President, ASBMR
