Message from ASBMR President
Peter Ebeling, AO, FRACP, MBBS, MD – July 14, 2022
Dear Colleagues:
I am happy to announce that between the regular and late-breaking abstracts submission periods we received more than 1, ### abstracts for presentation at the September ASBMR 2022 Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, USA. With this strong scientific participation, we are both excited and very confident that this year’s meeting will have the top-quality research, presentations and sessions for which our program is internationally renowned.
Notifications for abstracts submitted during the regular abstract submission were sent via email earlier this week and the Annual Meeting Program Committee, led by Professor Raj Thakker FRS, is now diligently reviewing the abstracts submitted during the late-breaking abstract period that ended yesterday. It expects to send late-breaking abstract notifications out in early August.
Be sure to register for the Annual Meeting by July 28 to take advantage of the lowest registration rates. Also, book your hotel in the Society’s room block prior to August 10 to secure the discounted room rate.
The world has changed dramatically since volunteer leadership adopted the Society’s current strategic plan in 2019. In addition, we should take pride in the numerous accomplishments that we have been able to achieve over the past three years to address the priorities in our current plan.
Last month the ASBMR Council and Committee Chairs convened at ASBMR headquarters in Washington, DC, USA and held our first in-person Summer Council Meeting since 2019. We also participated in a one-day strategic planning meeting led by external facilitators to continue the work we started in the spring to identify the Society’s strategic priorities for 2023-2025.
We will share the draft strategic plan and solicit ASBMR member feedback during the annual Town Hall meeting that will occur in conjunction with the Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, USA.
I look forward to seeing you in Austin! Remember, Austin is different!
Sincerely,
Peter Ebeling
President, ASBMR
