The ASBMR Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee invites you to join this afternoon’s Research Interest Meeting, taking place today, July 30, at 3:00 PM EDT/2:00 PM CDT! Dr. Ling Qin, Ph.D., Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, will present research combining studies on fundamental mechanisms of skeletal cell function with translational medicine approaches to treat skeletal diseases, and Erica Clinkenbeard, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine will present on understanding the interplay of mineral metabolism on skeletal health during chronic kidney disease. These bi-weekly meetings feature ASBMR members presenting their current research projects, with time for audience Q&A following each short presentation. Having successfully created several collaborations already, these bi-weekly calls can help you to network, find new collaborations, and learn more about what your colleagues within the bone community are doing. Applications are being accepted for the 2020 ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Research Grants. This grant program provides a one-time award of up to $7,500 USD to three promising young scientists and physician-scientists in the bone field who are currently seeking to learn a new technique or to obtain additional project funding. Grant submissions can be in basic, clinical, or translational science and the primary focus must be on bone, mineral, or musculoskeletal research. One of the three grants is designated for an under-represented minority (as defined by the NIH) research scientist. The application deadline is Friday, August 14, 2020. Apply Now!

Presented by the OI Foundation in partnership with the Rare Bone Disease Alliance, the series focuses on general and disease specific topics related to rare bone diseases. No-cost CME will be provided. Virtual clinic sessions occur the first Thursday of each month, from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM EDT, with the next one occurring Thursday, August 6th, 2020.
