ASBMR and Coalition of Bone Health Experts Issue Joint Statement on Vitamin D in the Era of COVID-19
In response to the current COVID-19 global pandemic, and the attendant impact on outdoor physical activity and leisure time, the ASBMR, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, Endocrine Society, European Calcified Tissue Society, the National Osteoporosis Foundation, and the International Osteoporosis Foundation remind individuals of the importance of obtaining the daily recommended dosage of vitamin D. The scientific evidence clearly supports the benefits that vitamin D, in combination with calcium intake, plays in building strong skeletons and preventing bone loss. Please visit ASBMR.org for the full statement and additional guidance.

The musculoskeletal field (as other medical fields) is experiencing an unprecedented buoyant period of genetic discoveries arising from Genome-Wide Association and Sequencing (whole exome and whole-genome) Studies. JBMR® welcomes new papers on the biological validation of genes and/or variants identified through GWAS or Sequencing Studies that can help elucidate disease risk in the bone and mineral field. Please submit your original research or short reviews by January 31, 2021. Short reviews on the following topics are encouraged: • Variant and gene prioritization • Functional assessment of regulatory regions • Chromatin conformation analyses • New methods and techniques Please visit the ASBMR page at Wiley for more information.
