Eighth Fellows Forum on Metabolic Bone Diseases
September 10-11, 2014 in Houston, Texas, USAThe Endocrine Fellows Foundation (EFF), the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), and the University of Brescia are pleased to offer fellows training in osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases a unique opportunity to participate in the Eighth Fellows Forum on Metabolic Bone Diseases, September 10-11, 2014 in Houston, TX. The Forum will be held one day prior to the ASBMR 2014 Annual Meeting. Directors of Postdoctoral Subspecialty Training Programs for M.D.s, Pre- or Postdoctoral Ph.D. Fellowship Training Programs are invited to select individuals from their programs who meet the criteria listed below and whose education, in their opinion, would be enhanced by participating in this Forum.
The format of the day will include plenary lectures and breakout sessions given by distinguished leaders in the field. Faculty will include: John Bilezikian, Clifford Rosen, Marjorie Luckey, Ego Seeman, Mary Bouxsein, Michael McClung, Paul Miller, Andrea Giustina and others. The topics selected for presentation and discussion will be timely and among the most important in our field. There will be an equal balance of topics from both clinical and basic aspects of metabolic bone diseases.
Call for NominationsSelected North American attendees will be provided round-trip coach airfare; selected international attendees will be provided round-trip airfare up to $1,000 US. Hotel accommodations for the nights of September 10 and 11, 2014 at the Forum meeting hotel will also be provided. Extended stays to attend the ASBMR 2014 Annual Meeting (September 12-15) can be arranged, but are the responsibility of the attendee. No more than one fellow per program will be selected; no more than two fellows from any institution will be selected.
DEADLINE: The deadline for applications is Monday, June 16, 2014
NOTIFICATION DATE: Fellows selected will be notified by Friday, June 20, 2014.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Nominated fellows must meet the following criteria at the time the application is submitted:
- Have a M.D. degree or be in a Ph.D. training program.
- Be actively enrolled as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year fellow in an accredited fellowship or Ph.D. training program. The focus of the fellow’s training program must be in metabolic bone diseases but can be from any of the subspecialties (i.e., endocrinology, rheumatologic, basic bone biology, orthopedic research, geriatrics, etc.).
- Selected fellows are strongly encouraged to attend the ASBMR 2014 Annual Meeting, September 12-15, 2014 in Houston.
ABSTRACTS: All fellows are encouraged, but not required, to submit an abstract based upon the research they are conducting. See attached Abstract Form for further details.
