Genome-wide association identifies three new susceptibility loci for Paget's disease of bone

Nat Genet. 2011 May 29. [Epub ahead of print]

Using genome wide association studies (GWAS) the authors identified three novel genes that are associated with susceptibility for Paget's disease. These were rs5742915 within PML on 15q24, rs10498635 within RIN3 on 14q32 and TM7SF4 (rs2458413, aka DC-STAMP). One of these, TM7SF4 or DC-STAMP was already known to be involved in osteoclast precursor cell fusion.
