ACT NOW – One More Push to Tell U.S. Congress to Increase Funding for Research!
Date: December 18, 2013
On December 12, the House passed the Bipartisan Budget Act (BBA) of 2013, the agreement negotiated by Representative Paul Ryan and Senator Patty Murray, and Senate approval of the bill is expected later this week. The next step is for the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to determine the specific funding levels for the federal science agencies by January 15, 2014. We need one more push to convince Congress to increase fiscal year 2014 funding for the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy Office of Science, and veterans and agriculture research.
U.S. members: Please visit the ASBMR website and send your Senators and Representative a pre-drafted message encouraging them to support increased funding for federal science agencies. Sending an email to your elected representatives only takes a few moments but makes a big difference at such a critical time.
