Congratulations to Lynda Bonewald, Ph.D., the 2015 ASBMR William F. Neuman Awardee

The William F. Neuman Award is the ASBMR's oldest and most prestigious award. It recognizes an ASBMR member for outstanding and major scientific contributions in the area of bone and mineral research and for contributions to associates and trainees in teaching, research and administration. The 2015 ASBMR William F. Neuman Award will be presented to Lynda Bonewald, Ph.D., at the ASBMR 2015 Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington, USA, on Friday, October 9, 2015.
Dr. Bonewald is currently an Endowed and Curator’s Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she also directs regional, University wide and Departmental Bone/Musculoskeletal Research programs. She received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Texas, Austin, and her Ph.D. in Immunology/Microbiology from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. She is a Past-President of the ASBMR and served on several NIH advisory panels. She is best known for her work in the study of osteocytes and is responsible for tools used by researchers globally to determine osteocyte biology and function. She has helped to launch the careers of numerous young scientists and has served as a role model for women in science.
