Working Group on the Future Biomedical Research Workforce Seeks Input

    Date: September 21, 2011

The working group, established by the Advisory Committee to the NIH Director (ACD) to examine the future of the U.S. biomedical research workforce, invites input from the extramural community to ensure a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of the issues involved. Comments are sought from students, postdoctoral fellows, scientists, scientific societies, and NIH grantee institutions, as well as from the general public, and should be submitted electronically by October 7, 2011 here.

The working group, which will recommend actions to the ACD and the NIH Director, is charged with developing a model for a sustainable, diverse, and productive U.S. biomedical research workforce. The model will help inform decisions about how to train the optimal number of people for the appropriate types of positions that will advance science and promote health.

Details about the request for input are available on the NIH grants website.
