    Chris Kaiser to Lead NIGMS

    Cell biologist Chris A. Kaiser, Ph.D. has been named the new director of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). Dr. Kaiser leaves his current position as professor and head of the Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is expected to begin at NIGMS in the spring of 2012. In taking this position, Dr. Kaiser said, "For 50 years, NIGMS has laid the foundation for important medical advances, and I'm excited to build on these efforts." Dr. Kaiser will take the place of Judith H. Greenberg, Ph.D., who has been the acting director since July 2011. For more details, visit the NIGMS website.
