Congratulations to Benjamin Leder, M.D., for Winning the Golden Femur on Behalf of ASBMR in the ASBMR-ECTS Debate!

The bi-annual ASBMR-ECTS debate was held at the 46th annual meeting of the European Calcified Tissue Society, ECTS 2019, on Saturday, May 11th, in Budapest, Hungary. The topic of the debate was ‘This House Believes that Intervention to Increase Peak Bone Mass rather than Targeting Bone Loss Would be More Effective in Reducing the Osteoporosis Fracture’. The chairs of the debate were Bo Abrahamsen, M.D., Ph.D. (Denmark), Juliet Compston, M.D. (United Kingdom), and Anna Teti, Ph.D. (Italy). Arguing for the motion on behalf of ECTS was Nicholas Harvey, Ph.D. (United Kingdom), and arguing against the motion on behalf of ASBMR was Benjamin Leder, M.D. (United States). Dr. Leder won with 51% of the vote, and is pictured above with the miniature golden femur award. Congratulations again to Dr. Leder!
