    April 30 through May 7, 2016 is National Osteogenesis Imperfecta Awareness Week. An estimated 25,000-50,000 people in the United States are affected by OI, which causes bones to develop improperly and can lead to lifelong medical issues including frequent broken bones and often respiratory problems.
