Date: December 03, 2013
The National Institutes of Health have awarded 78 grants to researchers who propose “highly innovative” approaches to today’s most formidable biomedical research challenges. "This program allows researchers to propose highly creative research projects across a broad range of biomedical research areas, that involve inherent risk, but have the potential to lead to breakthroughs," NIH Director Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., said. The awards – Pioneer, New Innovator, Transformative Research, and Early Independence – were granted to scientists of all career levels and total approximately $123 million dollars.
