Senate Healthcare Includes DXA Relief-Bill Goes to Conference

    Date: January 04, 2010

The United States Senate approved its version of H.R. 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which included some relief for the DXA cuts. The reimbursement fix to DXA has now cleared another major hurdle, with the Senate approving the bill along party lines with a vote of 60 to 39. The DXA provision will set a floor on reimbursement for DXA for 2010 and 2011 at a national average of $98 while a study of patient access to care is conducted.

The next step has already begun in the legislative process as Conference Committees made up of key members of the House and Senate will resolve the differences between the House and Senate versions of the Health Care Reform bills.
