Eligibility

Eligible candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

• Be a United States citizen or permanent resident of the United States
• Be a basic, clinical, or translational scientist in a field of study related to bone, mineral, and musculoskeletal research
• Identify as a member of an underresourced community including but not limited to race/ethnicity, disability, or disadvantaged background
• Have completed doctoral level training (MD, PhD, or equivalent) within the last 10 years
• Have completed and provide evidence of completion of Responsible Conduct of Research training at their home institution
• Ensure that their supervisor is aware of the time commitment, and would support the candidate’s participation, if accepted

Application Process

Your application must include the following:

• Completed online application form
• One letter of interest including a description of your career objectives
• One letter of recommendation
• For postdocs or residents: your letter should come from their research advisor or program director
• For junior faculty: your letter should come from a senior colleague or supervisor who has visibility until your talents, career objectives, and development needs
• Your NIH biosketch
• Acknowledgment that you and your supervisor are aware of and can meet the time and participation expectations of THRIVE Scholars

Expectations of the THRIVE Scholar

• • Meet with your assigned THRIVE Mentor for 1 hour each month for the duration of the program (i.e., 2 years).
  • Meet with your THRIVE Mentor at the ASBMR annual conferences.
  • Develop and implement two Individualized Development Plans (IDP); one related to the Promotion and Tenure Guidelines at your home academic institution and the second related to career and leadership development within the ASBMR.
  • Attend the ASBMR annual conferences for the duration of the 2 year program.
  • Attend and participate in at least 90% of the monthly professional development webinars.
  • Maximize the opportunities of the THRIVE program to the fullest.
