Peter Ebeling, AO, FRACP, MBBS, MD – May 12, 2022

    Dear Colleagues:

Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract during last week’s 2022 Annual Meeting regular submission deadline. We received well over 900 abstracts, which is comparable to the number received for our last pre-pandemic Annual Meeting in 2019! Importantly, sixty-five percent of abstracts submitted last week were from young investigators. We also had a large number of submissions from outside of North America. With this strong participation, we are excited and confident that the 2022 Annual Meeting will have the top-quality research, presentations and sessions for which our program is internationally renowned.

I am also happy to announce that the Annual Meeting Program Committee has decided to offer a late-breaking abstract submission period this northern hemisphere summer and welcomes your abstract submissions on clinical, basic and/or translational subjects that describe novel, groundbreaking research findings of the highest scientific impact. The late-breaking abstract submission period will open in June. ASBMR has doubled the amount of money it is providing to support early career and mid-career members’ attendance at the Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, USA this September. Please note this support will also be available to ASBMR members who submit an abstract to the Annual Meeting during the late-breaking abstract submission period.

I am so excited for us all to come together in person this September at the ASBMR Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, USA. Registration and housing will open in June.

Finally, May is National Osteoporosis Month and I encourage you to celebrate it by registering for the annual ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Virtual 5k Fun Run! Whether you run, walk, ride or roll, we need your help to raise awareness and money to support our early stage investigators. Proceeds from the Virtual 5k Fun Run go to the ASBMR Fund for Research and Education. For more information and to register, please visit the ASBMR website.

    Sincerely,

    Peter Ebeling

    President, ASBMR
