
The ASBMR Fund for Research and Education, in collaboration with the Development Committee, Ambassador Subcommittee and the Belonging, Opportunity and Access (BOA) Committee, is proud to announce the International Travel Grant program to enable two recipients from low or middle-income countries to attend the ASBMR 2026 Annual Meeting, October 9-12 in Boston, MA, USA. The Fund for Research and Education will award two grants of up to $5,000 USD each in 2026. Travel support will include airfare, ground transportation, lodging (4 nights), meals, incidentals, visa application fees, and poster printing. The recipients' abstract submission fees and Annual Meeting registration fees will also be waived.
Recipient Eligibility:
- Must be within the first 5 years of their academic or research careers
- Must work, reside, or study full-time in a country that is classified as lower income (LIC), lower-middle income (LMIC), or upper-middle income (UMIC) on the World Bank country classifications by income level
- Must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in a field related to bone mineral and musculoskeletal science, OR be currently enrolled in doctoral level training
- Must plan to attend and submit an abstract for the ASBMR Annual Meeting
- May not be previous recipients of this award
- May not receive other ASBMR travel awards or grants for the same meeting
Application
Applicants must provide the following:

- Discuss your career path, goals, and research interest(s)
- Describe the financial limitation and other barriers that you face as a bone/mineral/musculoskeletal researcher in a low or middle income country
- How do you believe receiving this grant would positively impact your scientific career?
- How do you believer receiving this award might empower you to effect positive changes in the scientific trajectories of colleagues back home?
- Two letters of support
- The first letter should come from an institutional official, attesting to the applicant’s affiliations, support allocating the requisite time to participate with ASBMR during and after the conference and potential impact within their research community.
- The second letter should be submitted by the applicant’s mentor, providing insights into the applicant’s academic trajectory, research experience, and commitment to advancing the fields of bone, mineral, and musculoskeletal research.
- CV or biosketch
- Proposed abstract for the ASBMR Annual Meeting - Final abstract must be uploaded by deadline (May 2026)
