    Mary L. Bouxsein, Ph.D. Takes Office as ASBMR President

    (Washington, D.C.) – Mary Bouxsein, PhD, has taken office as the new president of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), the world’s leading scientific organization for bone health research. 

    "I’m honored to serve as ASBMR’s next President, joining a long line of dedicated individuals who have helped advance our field and Society as a whole,” Bouxsein stated. “I look forward working with fellow ASBMR members to enhance the research, education and leadership opportunities for our members worldwide. I also look forward to collaborating with other scientific societies to advance initiatives to reduce the burden of musculoskeletal diseases.” 

    Dr. Bouxsein is Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Center for Advanced Orthopedic Studies at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center . Her research focuses on understanding skeletal fragility from a biomechanics viewpoint, and includes preclinical as well as clinical investigations. She has published more than 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts.

    Dr. Bouxsein will serve as President of ASBMR until the conclusion of the ASBMR 2023 Annual Meeting in Vancouver, Canada.
