    Peter Ebeling, AO, FRACP, MBBS, MD Takes Office as ASBMR President

     (Washington, D.C.) – Peter Ebeling, AO, FRACP, MBBS, MD, has taken office as the new president of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), the world’s leading scientific organization for bone health research.

    "It is a great honor for me to serve as the first non-North American President of ASBMR and I hope my election will increase the already strong international engagement with ASBMR,” Ebeling stated. “It is also a very exciting time for ASBMR as we spring back stronger than before in a post-COVID world, learning from the successful innovations we have made over the last two years to enhance the ASBMR experience."

    Dr. Ebeling is Head of the Department of Medicine in the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in Melbourne, Australia. His research interests include musculoskeletal health and diseases; public health aspects of vitamin D; post-transplantation osteoporosis; osteoporosis in men; and biochemical bone turnover markers.

    In addition to serving on the ASBMR Executive Committee as President-Elect this past year, Dr. Ebeling has served as the first Editor-in-Chief of JBMR® Plus. Dr. Ebeling will serve as President of ASBMR until the conclusion of the ASBMR 2022 Annual Meeting.
